If any one knows me they know I absolutely love DIY projects 🛠 and watching shows like this. I think because of the Covid slow down of new shows over here some of our channels are showing older UK shows. WHICH ar […]

    • I love, love, love shows like this.
So interesting! I would buy up a Chateau like this in a heartbeat if I could. Reminds me of some of the pictures my dad’s godmother in Switzerland used to send.

I also love watching Fixer Upper, Joanna and Chip. Tiny Houses. They truly amaze me!

      • YES…..I have to monitor how many shows I get into because they are addicting. AND…there are so many shows like this out there.
I think from what I saw…they have lived there a few years and still have not got to half the rooms. Renovating them that is.

        • They really are very addicting.
It’s been quite easy for me to get hooked on them last year. The company I work for has had all 150 of us working remotely, so I turn the TV on for noise, and of course, end up watching while doing tasks.

I can’t even imagine renovating that many rooms. That is a LOT!!!

          • You got to work from home? Thank goodness for that. Being able to keep working through this pandemic. I would be horrible at it. I see those commercials where people are in pajama bottoms and nice tops doing conference calls. I know myself…..I would probably start watching soap operas all day and actually getting some work done at midnight ☺️
YES….45 rooms in this Chateau. I definitely would have to marry a Journeyman to do all this work. You should start watching the show…..this man could do everything. He is ex military and a chef. He also is a trained gardener I think…he just knows it all. And she is so cute. She is so talented with design and unique ideas. And to do all of this with small children….AMAZING.

    • This is quite a lengthy documentary series which first began airing in June 2016.
It has 7 seasons, and 32 episodes in all.
So there’s much to see if you want to watch the entire series.

There are several DIY shows which come and go in the UK and one of the stand-out programs is called “Grand Designs” – a program which follows the construction of a house from foundations to the roof. It may sound ordinary but it really isn’t.

    • Are you serious?
I can’t wait for them to release more Chateau seasons.
We also have MANY shows like this. But I was drawn to the Chateau because of the amazing castle like home….and the beautiful couple doing it all.

    • Someone remodeled the big house (Chateau) which is not my thing at all. I prefer getting an apartment as is, and not having to worry about it. Oh maybe pick out a picture or two. LOL This somehow brings to mind an interview I saw part of earlier today of Fran Lebowitz who emphasised that she is lazy. She got one bad job after another when she first moved to New York at 18, and finally just realized she didnt’ wanna work, period.

      That’s sort of me.

      • I kind of get this. I think we feel LAZY when its something we really are not passionate about. I never had to do a remodel….and I probably won’t ever. But I love the idea of it…I love how creative some people can get over it. My fun is designing a room. But….it is also draining too.
I sometimes just want to hire a decorator to come and decorate every room in my house because I can never make my mind up. I can spend months debating over a chair…..and once I decide on the model….add a few more months on picking a color. And add a few more months after that for picking the fabric/texture. ITS HORRIBLE. But…. once I get going I am ok.

Yeah…..pictures are an issue with me too. Because I only want to hang my own art work. But I don’t because I want to paint in a color scheme I decide on for the room. And ….and….and…..it doesn’t end you see. 😔
        😉

My sister “Queen of Horror” sent this to me earlier today and I didn’t watch it at the time because I wasn’t in the mood to watch a horror scene. But she assured me it was different. So….I just watched it. […]

    • There’s much one can read into this film – allegory or metaphor, but I wouldn’t consider it a horror film. 11 people all sat around a table feasting on what will become their last supper. The biblical last supper was attended by Jesus and his 12 disciples. Biblical connotations?

The diners’ appear to be eating several endangered species with gusto, and have no moral compunction over the terrible consequences such attitudes will ultimately cause. So Mankind sinks under the weight of his own sins – this being gluttony, and again, another biblical reference is exposed. In a visual metaphor we see the diners’ and their table drop to the lower floor. . .are there no limits that mankind will sink to for momentary satisfaction?

Maybe they are in purgatory forced to repeat their past sins before ascending to heaven?

The script writer definitely had something in mind when this was written, and even to the casual viewer it is clear that there is so much more going on here then what is seen on the surface. It’s the insatiable appetite – primarily – the need to use up all the Earth’s resources rather than protect them. Mankind is descending rather than ascending as He should be.

There is more, but I could go on forever.

      • After reading your response, I have to say my first reaction is “why didn’t I take it any deeper”. I seem to tend to be so literal about things like this. A group of people eating and falling through several floors, is just people eating while the floor falls out from under them…and I miss any “allegory” that might be there.

Suspect you are right, don’t doubt it for a minute. I just don’t think in those terms.

        • I might have done the same thing as you….but I was asked my opinion of the movie so I had to look at it from as many angles as possible. My sister can get into some deeper discussions. So I have to “try” to dive as deep too. ☺️

    • I think you hit all areas that we discussed over this. Well….the thoughts the people in the group brought up to her and she shared with me. And I just realized DoDo bird me didn’t post my view. I thought for sure Gluttony ….that was the only thing I saw. But she brought up all the ideas she was discussing with other people….which was along the lines of what you wrote. Your very observant Jules.
I also felt….this short film was not “Horror” unless of course you are a devout religious being 🙃 It is labeled Horror which is why I didnt watch it right away. So again….agree with Jules on this.
But I also felt it was a nicely made short film.

I started watching a show which distracted me from posting my view here last night. I can’t stand getting caught up in a series. 😁

    • Ok, I am going to respond without reading what you said so that you can get the closest thing to a “fresh” viewpoint as possible.

First, I was wondering what the heck was going on. These intense people were really dedicated to eating whatever that was. Then the food stuff bothered me. It looked like they were eating baby chickens or something..I mean in the egg chickens, unhatched chickens, except they were fairly big so what were they really?!!

Then as time went on, my attention went from “what the heck are they eating” to when is the next floor going to give way, and why didn’t these crazy people just start out on the ground floor in the first place.

I think it ended up being more perplexing and sort of funny rather than “horror.”

      • YES…not horror in the sense that we thought. But I imagine a religious person could see the horror in it if they see the “Gluttony” and the “descending” floors.

        • Yeah, I think I would be pretty “horrorified” if the floors kept giving way. I wouldn’t be really happy for even one to give way.

I wish I could hand them all a fluffy pillow & a cup of hot tea 🍵

    • All this for one moment of national insanity.

      • Yes! We could have had this on the “day of insanity” but some people in the White House didn’t think it would “look” good.

    • And a warm blanket. Bless each and every one of them. I heard yesterday that at least 20,000 National Guard members are expected to be in Washington D.C. for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, which is roughly four times more than the amount of troops currently in Afghanistan and Iraq combined.

      • Uh huh…..my sister has been moved to a smaller base and smaller living quarters in Afghanistan since bases have been closing over there.
Just seeing these soldiers sleeping there to keep everyone safe gave me such a feeling of good and warmth.

    • Are these the National Guard gathered in the Capitol to keep our Congresspersons safe? If so, give ’em a blanket and pillow for me. πŸ™‚

So much I want to say….but trying to control what my tongue wants my fingers to type.

    • I praise you for showing restraint in such a volatile situation.

      • I have been listening to all stations over this and all seem to be saying the same thing about these Rioters. “Misinformed through Social Media Trump Supporters”
I think…if those sites Twitter/Facebook/Youtube social media Titans are taking steps to stop “Misinformation” on their sites ….we may want to discuss what we should do here. I know I have deleted some post and deleted some accounts here due to hate/violence/racist post though not many.
We are not even on the radar compared to their size….but we have a “One Love” philosophy that we as Admins here need to do our best to protect. And we of all people should not be spreading misinformation. So Yes…I have to shut my laptop at times and ponder.

    • Yes indeed.
I think that by now the whole world knows that every claim relating to election fraud has been thrown out by the courts across the board due to no solid evidence. People believe what that will or what they want to believe because it suits their political stance regardless of validity or lack of it.

And so conspiracy theories grow and filter down through the “global” population via social media and become POPULAR truth to the faithful, but popular truth and official truth are two very different things. So as Admins the task is whether or not to allow such political motivated conspiracy theories to prosper? – or delete them immediately on this site?

    • A woman lost her life today because of the events at congress: this happened at the heart of the American government because of an act of dosmestic terrorism. I think it’s obvious how we proceed.

Looks like Warnick & Ossoff took Georgia.

    • What!? You mean it went through without a counter claim due to fraud? . . .sarcasm intended. πŸ™‚

    • Thank You! My sons are grown but we have had Chubs since 2009 so they all love this big spoiled cat πŸ˜‰

    • Oh how sweet, bless him, I am pleased he is better. We have a female cat called molly who looks very much like chubbs. Xx

      • Thank you.
I think everyone at one time in their life had or knew a black cat 😉
Have you guys accidentally sat on your cat? 🥺
We have….we couldn’t see him. THANK GOODNESS we jumped as soon as we felt him.

    • I usually keep my post lighthearted and happy……mostly πŸ˜‰
That was the only shirt I bought him because he wasn’t happy about it like his little sister was. She absolutely loved wearing a shirt after she got use to it. BUT my sons said mom….please don’t turn into one of those crazy ladies who dress their pets. So….no more clothes for my cats. Maybe when I turn 60 I will try again 😅

    • Such a beauty!

      • Even with his swollen nose…..in that picture at least. He is a big guy 18lbs.
All the swelling is gone and he seems to have regained his youthful playful side.

    • He looks very adorable πŸ™‚

So I finally got into the Sous Vide game and don’t plan on turning back anytime soon. IT IS AMAZING!!! The BEST Chicken I have ever made. One of my sons kept asking me for a few years if I wanted a Sous Vide […]

    • Nice!! i love it. Thinking of getting one now 🤣 would save lots of time i guess.

      • Actually it takes longer to cook things…..lower temp longer cooking time. BUT….you drop the bag in the water and you are free to do other things for an hour or two. So easy.

  • Monica wrote a new post 2 years, 10 months ago

I didn’t put a Turkey picture because we are not having Turkey. We decided….no one really likes Turkey so why are we cooking it? How will Thanksgiving be at your house?

    • Those pictures do look amazing…..I found them online. Ha! I posted this the day before Thanksgiving so I hadn’t cooked my meal at the time so I found pictures of what I was having.
Your ham sounds delicious. I only bought a small boneless ham to cook because of the big Prime Rib we were also cooking. The ham came with a berry glaze which I did not make. My sons are not into too much flavorings added to their meat. As for sweet potatoes….I only made one because my sons don’t eat it. Also only made a small serving of cranberry sauce since they also don’t eat that. I make it fresh with a granny smith apple and fresh orange zest and juice. It is so good…..but since no one in this household eats it besides me I just make a small amount.
We had brussel sprouts with a balsamic glaze and bacon…twice baked potatoes with 4 types of cheese in them….and bacon bits. Sausage chest nut stuffing……and pies I ordered. Oh…and one of my favorite desserts….cranberry cream salad. Which really isn’t a salad but it has pineapple, coconut….fresh cranberries…marshmallows and whipped cream. It’s addicting.

We use to have giant get togethers but my parents retired and moved away and my siblings moved to be closer to them and its just my little family here. I have relatives scattered around California but I do enjoy the holidays with my sons. Every other year it seems we have been making reservations and eating out and coming home to pies I made or ordered. Our holidays seem to evolve every year. And until I have Grandchildren and if the pandemic gets under control I may just take a cruise next year.

Glad you a wonderful with your family.

    • Thank you 🙏🏼
My son and I got our recent Covid results back and they were negative again. SO now he feels like bragging. We went to the place with worst Covid numbers in the world (South Dakota) and we did not get it. Not that its anything to brag about…..we just did the basics…wore our mask and carried our hand sanitizer around with us every where we went. And depending on the size of the place and how many people were in a store…we doubled our mask.
So far….5 of my cousins contracted Covid in South Dakota and 2 ended up in ICU.

I just heard Georgia and Arizona called it for Biden and North Carolina for Trump. I don’t know if those numbers are going to stick but from listening to all kinds of statisticians/number gurus that it is […]

    • I would love to see the Green Party be ascendent. But right now we have to fight the “republican versus democrat” game. Maybe when more people wake up about the environment, the Green party will have its chance.

      • Funny thing is…..without a planet to survive on ….it doesn’t matter what any party wants or thinks. It’s going to be all about survival and possibly the human race dying off.
And IDEALY we illuminate parties all together and just have people running on their own ideologies. And if that can not happen any time soon…we need at least 7 different parties.

    • YES! It can feel like a bunch of craziness. And YES….personal growth is such a beautiful thing.
I always believe….we need to live our best lives. Be the best people we can be.
I do my best to keep an open mind to everything. I do my best to understand different trains of thought.
And you are right….we only have control of our lives and depending on how old your children are…their lives too. Ha! So I pretty much agree with all you said πŸ™‚
