LGBTQ rights

First off, I am not gay, nor am I a believer in any “Gods.”

I have never had a homosexual experience, beep propositioned by a gay person, or disrespected in any way by a member of the LGBTQ community.

During my time in the military, many decades ago I did have the experience of being roommates with both gays and lesbians and found them to be no different than myself or anyone else on any socially relevant level.

I do however, stand strongly in support of these people having the exact same human rights as anyone else freely walking this planet.

I don’t care what they do in their personal lives, or how they identify sexually, who they choose to love or how they choose to lover,

None more so than any other individual or family living in any structure up and down the street, just so long as they do no harm to their people and obey the law.

I do understand and respect the rights of others to disagree with myself and to disapprove of gay folks.

I do NOT however approve of, nor understand this incessant hatred and onslaught of lies directed toward the gay community in order to vilify them, discredit them and used as justification to discriminate against them and openly disrespect them.

Their critics remind me mostly of the way insecure and ignorant young teenage males reacted toward the mere thought of gays back in the 50’s.

Childish, juvenile and totally immature.

I completely understand disagreeing, but hatred completely perplexes me.
There are actually people who feel so offended and threatened by the mere existence of gay people that they wish them mortal harm.

I can only attribute this to a lack of education.

I can find no other reason that such a level of hatred and animosity be directed against other human beings for no other reason than openly existing on this earth.

It’s like society has be caught up in a crippling time warp transporting us back to the 1950’s.

Even when sharing residence with gay folks they in no way affected or impacted my life.Ā  I could have been sharing a home with any childhood family from down the street.

No difference.

And I know that for 98% of humanity the same is true.

The existence of openly gay human beings in society is harming nobody or impacting or affecting the lives of anyone in the community.

This insidious and perpetual campaign to portray gays as “dangerous,” as “pedophiles,” or anything else is just cowardly, ignorant and disgusting to me.

I have even been accused of being gay myself simply because I support their right to equality.

Frankly, dealing on a daily basis with such a level of social ignorance, apathy, and cowardice has become tedious, yet I persist in my position, and will not be silenced by these cowards who hate so viciously for no reason other than to extend and amplify their own human insecurities.

  1. Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, Straight. The ONLY thing that different is sexuality, or being born in the wrong body type. Other than that,, we are ALL the same.. We are all born, and we all die,,, it;s the dash between the birth and death dates that matter. Who we loved, Who we befriended, and the Memories we made. In the end, that’s all that really matters,,, who we surrounded ourselves with and the memories we made. I believe in God,, but very few believe in the God I know,,, my God is an all loving God, not matter sexuality. Christians say God is the giver of life, yet they cling to their Bible and preach hatred for the thing God created. Makes no sense.
