The crickets hum my dreams
winds shuffle by my feet
the fan there in the corner
keeps me steady by the beat

The tide lifts me to the stars
Swelling greater every day
Sailing closer to the heavens
Till I’m blown quite far away.

To the easy rolling mountains
With their gentle melodic hymn
Telling stories of their fathers
Of their soldiers of their men

And their mother’s in the kitchen
On the restless wavy plain
Staring bleak into the future
Short of water, short of grain

The birds sing me from my slumber
I toss, still needing more
I spent the whole night fighting
This long forgotten war
