It is hard to see someone die. How they suffer so much before they’ll be long gone, the agony in their pain. The way they will ask or tell you things that didn’t happen…
Unfortunately, I have been right there beside many good people who have passed over, for many years. I have worked in front line health and terminal care for (too) many years so I understand where you are coming from. Also, as the “baby” of my family (at 58!) I have lost many loved ones too. It never gets easier but you do reach a better acceptance and understanding.
