I need to start trying to make different cookies. My standby cookies are chocolate chip. Love peanut butter cookies and oatmeal raisin. When the weather dips down to cold . . . it’s the best time I feel like baking cookies, cakes and pies. Yum! Those look delicious!
I was going to post this on the Thinkrs Food Forum but used the Picture to test the size thing.
I got the picture online because as I was baking them they were being eaten up. I even pulled one of my mothers pretty plates down to take a picture to post here. But I didn’t have enough left for a picture.
Anyhow….I used a recipe that called for honey and not sugar and whole wheat flour. They came out very good. My father is diabetic and I always try new recipes for him. And I bake them for everyone because it can’t hurt to help everyone else be healthy too.
Trying the healthy cookie recipes can be a little tricky because you have to alter the recipe some. Like these cookies…..next time I will use less honey because they were really sweet.
But yes…..cooler weather makes me want to bake too.
And honestly….you can’t go wrong with the go to Chocolate Chip Cookie. I mix up the nuts. Sometimes I add pecans….sometimes sliced almonds. And most times I don’t use any nuts.
A good peanut butter recipe is hard to find! I came close to one when I dark roasted my own peanuts and used Ms. Skudders peanut butter. *No national brand gunk.
I tried this one for my dad. And he loves the more crunchy ones over the chewy ones.
The last peanut butter recipe I tried at my house was the ones that you push a small peanut butter cup in the middle
They were HORRIBLY good.
Yeah…I use the less known natural peanut butter.
Simple and goes well with a cup of hot tea or coffee.
A little story about my Snickerdoodle history.
When I first discovered online social forums it was a Message Board on AOL called Soul Mates. Back in the day when we had to pay for online service. When I first saw the name of the board I didn’t bother to open it because I had imagined it was a bunch of single people looking for love. It turned out to the be the last board I opened because all the other boards did not interest me. I figured….just open it …that way I could say I honestly tried all the forums and this online socializing just is not my thing.
And when I opened it….there was a community there full of funny crazy smart people who discussed everything from world issues to cookie recipes. They welcomed me with open arms and I had such a great time with them. I met a few in person and have since kept my mind open about this world.
Anywho……how Snickerdoodles fits into this story is on this Forum there was sort of a Curmudgeon with such a great sense of humor who declared himself king of the place. So when a new user joined the community he told them they had to bake him dozens of Snickerdoodles as an entry fee of sorts. Believe it or not he was a teacher in real life.
Before I joined this forum…I had never heard of a Snickerdoodle.

@monica-2 My favorite cookies to make and eat are Snickerdoodles.

Simple and goes well with a cup of hot tea or coffee.
