“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives others” ~ Pericles
My Paradise
Rough cold grains of sand touching the bottom of my feet
Stripping away the tormenting edge of anxiety
Knowing each one of those grains had recently been
The only place I wanted to be
Turning my head I see turmoil and upheaval
Turning the other way I see the clear seemingly untouched water
That familiar feeling
That well known desire
That frequent need
My breath quickens with each step towards the water’s edge
The anticipation off the affecting sensation
Compels me to move more quickly
I make my mind overpower the need to rush
My steps are slow
Glancing at the ground beneath me,
Behind me
The imprint of where I’d just been
And the knowledge it would be washed away
Brings an involuntary smile to my lips
We’re simply just a breath in this life,
Precious and necessary we are
But never lasting
Where are those permanent marks we leave?
And how do we make some last?
My eternal goal…
So close now to the water
Seconds until my toes would feel that coolness
I exhale, feeling a sense of exhilaration and contentment
All the weight of everything I carry
Is expelled into that sea
The strong massive sea of repose
Over my toes
And slow are my steps to savor the feeling
Of the water creeping up my legs
Over my knees,
Taking a little gasp as it caresses my stomach
Anticipating the moment my legs would feel weightless
Then my body
And soon it’s not me any longer
My body, my mind are overtaken
By the beauty that surrounds me
Past the breakers I find myself
Looking back to where I came from
Watching the world from a far
Imagining I was never an intricate piece of it
A calmness comes over me
Although I know I’m watching something die
I also recognize the visions of re-creation, new life and new beginnings
And as my healing begins I feel another smile on my lips

An offer. Lol I used to have my tongue pierced, my nipples pierced, my lip, my nose. But that was long ago, sixteenish. Now I only have ears and belly button piercings and the one dermal anchor. I got old and I never broke any teeth with the tongue piercing, lol granted it was short lived though
