I agree with you gn. And willdo makes some good points too. I clearly remember very early in the first term of the Obama administration during an interview on television with George Stephanopolis. Obama referred to his “Muslim faith” and George quickly corrected him to say “Christian faith.”

I agree with skykerr98. And it would have been neat to hear the evangelist say which way it is. All churches ask for cash, and that in itself is not a bad thing. What’s bad is when they become more interested in collecting money than preaching the word. If we don’t want to give we don’t have to.

I believe that Jesus and his disciples collected donations when needed. Some say that Judas acted as treasurer before he had his problem. The group would have needed food and supplies just like anyone else. Bible verses like “the worker is worth his wages” and others come to mind, but my favorite is 2 Corinthians 9:7-
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.- Honestly taking money is no big deal when it is used properly.

There is an older couple at our church who also raised their grand daughter. When it becomes necessary to do that I’m thankful that the Lord provides someone.
