Canadian, liberal, atheist, my dearest belief is that I'm "anti-punishment." That is what I most like to talk about, seems the most important topic there is, to me.
I'm a middle-aged family man, had a few kids in my thirties, they're still here.
Been attending forums like this since maybe, Summer, 2010. Intellectually, I'm kind of a one trick pony. All I know and care about is raising my kids, well, having raised my kids, in a very liberal, absolutely non-punishing way. I've dabbled in psychology, reading it, that is.
I've read quite a few classic novels, I live for comedy TV and movies.
I think I bring some personal honesty. When I've been an idiot and I actually realize it, I won't get my back up, I don't need to be right all the time. Being an idiot has been my worst fear for much of my life - but I'm getting used to the idea. Shit happens.
Good to meet ya.
Update, January 2013:
Tending more to actively opposing religion. I'm starting to see it as the source of the punishing behaviour I'm fighting. Secular government, secular education, is very much under attack these days.
something even weirder happened recently – I suddenly have all the karma points I ever had, like they were never lost! WTF!?!???
May 22, 2013But, yeah, sometimes I think we’d better save copies of our posts. The people that run these free sites owe us nothing. I feel like I’ve lost some real gems too.
That expression has always bugged me. What does it add up to – don’t have good intentions? I guess it means bad acts with good intentions, your intentions don’t mean anything if you do bad shit . . . but really, are we talking about actual intentions, what we’re actually trying to do? Or is it just the bad shit we do while we’re only saying ‘I do this with the best of intentions?’
May 22, 2013That was rich. Good chuckle. Thanks, NM.
May 21, 2013They’re still laughing their asses off about Citizens United, they can’t believe that worked. Now all bets are off.
May 20, 2013This is like when the Europeans came to America and started declaring ownership of the land and the aboriginals found that inconceivable – everybody finds this inconceivable. But some bastards are going to go ahead and do it while we think it’s impossible and don’t take action. (That’s like the fuckin’ holocaust, it happens because the good folks can’t even imagine it.) This is some scary shit.
